Futurity/KBIF Update for 2010- 2011

The stallion must be standing in Kentucky when the breeding takes place. It can be owned by a Kentucky resident or any other person, whose name will be provided.

The mare MUST foal in Kentucky.

Mare owners will pay an annual fee of $25 per year to nominate their foal.

Stallions placed in nomination will pay a fee of $150 annually, up to a total of $1,050. Stallion owners selecting to make a one time payment of $1000 may do so.

Owners of foals will make an annual payment of $50 up to a total of $200. A schedule of the divisions of the awards is available.

All awards will be selected from the horses shown at the annual show sponsored by the Kentucky Paso Fino Horse Association, presently being held in July.

There will be Amateur Owner Classes for the four year olds in each division of pleasure, performance and Fino. The top three futurity contestants in each division will be paid.

There will be Professional classes for the three year olds in each division of pleasure, performance and Fino. The top three futurity contestants in each division will be paid.

There will be a single Bella Forma (conformation) class for yearlings.

There will be separate two year old Bella Forma (conformation) classes for 2 year old fillies and colts.

There will be a single class for 5 years and older geldings in Amateur Owner Pleasure.

All winners must be a current Kentucky PFHA member. The amount of award money to be divided among winners is announced by the Kentucky Horse Racing Authority, based on a three year cycle.

Awards will be divided on the following basis:

  • MARE
  • STALLION
  • 1st place in both 3 and 4 year old divisions of Pleasure, Performance & Fino
  • 2nd place in both 3 and 4 year old divisions of Pleasure, Performance& Fino
  • 3rd place in both 3 and 4 year old divisions of Pleasure, Performance& Fino
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the Amateur Owner Pleasure gelding class
  • 1st place in Bella forma in yearling and 2 year old classes
  • 2nd place in Bella forma in yearling and 2 year old classes.
  • 3rd place in Bella forma in yearling and 2 year old classes.

Each division of Pleasure, Performance and Fino will be allocated money depending on the number of total entries. Each Bella forma division will receive 5% of the total purse. The Pleasure gelding class will receive 5% of the total. The remaining riding classes will receive 85% of the total. The stallion owner and the mare owner will each receive 10% of the winnings of each of his/her offspring. In case there are no contestants in a division, the money will be redistributed among the other divisions.
